Brighton have warned Arsenal and Liverpool it will take a bid of around £40million to sign midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer.

The 24-year-old is hot property after an impressive campaign with the Seagulls, which has caught the eye of both Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp.

The Mali international joined Brighton in 2018 and he’s improved year-on-year on the south coast, with Graham Potter helping to take Bissouma’s game to the next level this season.

The Seagulls are desperate to keep Bissouma and they’ve done their best to persuade him to stay by telling the midfielder that his rapid development would be best served by another year at the club.

But Brighton are realistic about their chances of keeping the midfielder, particularly in the face of strong interest from the top six.

Liverpool are yet to tie Gini Wijnaldum down to a new deal and Jurgen Klopp has identified Bissouma as a replacement should the Dutchman opt to join Barcelona on a free transfer.

Arteta wants a dynamic defensive midfielder to afford Thomas Partey more creative freedom next term, while Dani Ceballos’ loan move is not expected to be made permanent.

Brighton will do all they can to keep the midfielder but the Sun claim the Seagulls are willing to accept a fee of around £40m.

With Brighton resigned to losing their star man, the hope is that a bidding war can be sparked between Liverpool and Arsenal in order to obtain a larger fee.

Chelsea have also been linked with the Mali international.
