Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright believes Thomas Tuchel made a ‘mistake’ with Reece James during Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City.

James played as one of Chelsea’s defenders in a back-three alongside Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger, with Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of him as the right wing-back.

The Blues have been in fine form since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as manager in January, but they underwhelmed at Wembley on Saturday, with Youri Tielemans’ second-half stunner settling the affair.

‘I think you have to say Reece James did a good job, but I think for me that was a bit of a mistake from Tuchel,’ Wright told BBC Sport after the match.

‘I would’ve played Reece James on the right because I think they lost that thrust.’

On Leicester’s maiden FA Cup title triumph, Wright added: ‘This is what it’s about. This is what you dream about.

‘For a club like Leicester, with everything they’ve been through, it’s fitting that they are able to celebrate this moment with their fans. I’m delighted for them.’

Chelsea face Leicester City for the second time in four days on Tuesday night, with Champions League qualification potentially up for grabs.

Tuchel’s side will then turn their attentions to the Champions League final, with the Blues facing Premier League champions Manchester City in Porto.

Reacting to Leicester’s victory over Chelsea, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel said: ‘So happy I can’t begin to describe it. What a day.

‘Indescribable, it’s what dreams are made of, I’ve dreamt about this since I was child, we have talked about wanting to win trophies.

‘The performance today, the grit and determination, I’m so proud of everybody, everybody contributed to get to the final everyone has played and been sensational.

‘Everyone behind the scenes, all the team behind the team, medical staff and everyone. That’s why when you work together and do things properly and you have an internal belief that’s what we can achieve.’
