Michael Owen has made his predictions for a selection of midweek Premier League matches, including Manchester United vs Leicester and Chelsea vs Arsenal.

With a hectic run of three games in five days, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to rotate his United side for their clash against the Foxes on Tuesday ahead of their re-arranged meeting with Liverpool just 48 hours later on Thursday.

The Red Devils came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Sunday, with Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani all finding the back of the net after Bertrand Traore’s first-half opener.

And Owen is backing United to pick up a narrow 1-0 win against Brendan Rodgers’ fourth-placed side at Old Trafford.

Manchester United welcome Leicester to Old Trafford after yet another win on the road, this time at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon,’ former Liverpool and United striker Owen told BetVictor.

‘That stretched the Reds’ unbeaten run in the Premier League to 14 games (25 away), however, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be forced to make changes here with the visit of Liverpool just 48 hours after this match.

‘Friday night’s defeat to Newcastle means that Leicester are in a real battle for a top four spot. They are in the box seat just now, but with Liverpool at their heels, it’s set to be a nervy run-in for the Foxes.

‘That said, they are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 away Premier League matches.

‘I think this could be tight. Both like to play on the counter, so I think it will be a tactical affair. There is a real chance United will make some changes, but I do feel, at the moment, they are the side playing the better football. It’s a narrow home win for the Red Devils for me.’

For Tuesday’s later kick-off, Owen is expecting Southampton to record a 1-0 victory over Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace at St Mary’s

And on Wednesday, Chelsea welcome London rivals Arsenal to Stamford Bridge after their 2-1 victory over Manchester City last weekend, which was a dress rehearsal of May’s Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s side picked up a 3-1 win against West Brom following their Europa League exit at the hands of Unai Emery’s Villarreal, but Owen feels Chelsea will beat ninth-placed Arsenal 2-0.

‘Chelsea continued their magnificent run under Thomas Tuchel with a 2-1 win against Manchester City, making it back-to-back wins against Pep Guardiola’s side,’ Owen added.

‘With an FA Cup and Champions League final to look forward to, it could be about to get very interesting for Chelsea fans.

‘Arsenal bounced back from their Europa League exit with a win against relegated West Brom at the Emirates. It’s been a season to forget for Gunners’ fans, with the gap between themselves and the top four becoming more alarming as the season goes on.

‘Chelsea may have one eye on the FA Cup final; however, organisation has been key for Tuchel, and I don’t see his side taking their foot off the gas just yet. It’s 2-0 to the Blues for me.’
